Hören und Lesen, nicht Hören oder Lesen. Ein Plädoyer für die Förderung der rezeptiven Kompetenz im Fremdsprachenunterricht
Abstract:

Since reading – at least as far as Germany is concerned – seems to have been rediscovered lately as an important skill to be trained in the foreign language classroom, it is quite possible that the time needed for its development will be taken off the time given up to now to the training of listening comprehension. The article warns against this danger and maintains that a) both listening and reaching skills are equally important means of gaining information and that, as b) they are different on the rudimentary levels of decoding but equal on the higher levels of comprehension, they should be taught integratively.
