Untersuchung zum beruflichen Selbstverständnis von Fremdsprachenlehrern/innen
Abstract:

The article describes a new research project into the professional self-concept of foreign language teachers. The “professional self-concept” of foreign language teachers is defined as the teacher’s “subjective theory” concerning themselves in relation to their professional activity. To gain first insights into this neglected research field, 30 interviews with modern language teachers of Hessian grammar schools and comprehensive schools will be analyzed in a qualitative research paradigm.

Bild- und Tonkunst im Fremdsprachenunterricht
Abstract:

The problem is discussed in how far meaningful works of art can influence the learning of foreign languages. Topics of the investigation are the motivation from paintings for linguistic performance and the reflection of such motivation in linguistic processes; moreover the affections and stimulations triggered by music, besides and beyond what is practiced in suggestopedic methods of foreign language teaching. Acts of verbalisation of musical experience are researched in learning protocols. The background of these investigations are general theories of artistic reception and perception. All this is part of a comprehensive project on process-oriented application of media in foreign language teaching and learning.
